DESCRIPTION	This course is to introduce the field of materials science and engineering and to survey the role that materials have played in shaping our society. This course will introduce different categories of materials and elucidate their applications. Concepts of different kinds of materials and the basic structures at different scales will be studied. Relevant design and principles will be explored to understand the structure-property relationship, with the purpose of providing a foundation for students to understand the common properties of materials and to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impact of materials.

DESCRIPTION	General Physics II is designed for students who are interested in science and technology. The course consists of three modules, which are Module 1: Electrostatics and Circuit, including Coulomb’s law, Electric Fields, Gauss’s Law, Electric potential, Capacitance, Current and Resistance, and Circuits; Module 2: Magnetism and Electromagnetics, including Magnetic Fields, Magnetic Field due to Currents, Induction and Inductance, Electromagnetic Oscillations, and Maxwell’s Equations, Electromagnetic Waves; Module 3: Optics and Modern Physics, including Images, Interference, Diffraction, Photons and Matters Waves, and A toms. In addition to the lecture, students are required to take 3 experimental sections.
